"Physically, it was a devastating match": Musetti after his Lyon quarterfinal
Through to the ATP 250 Lyon semifinals after a 3-hour-32-minute battle, Lorenzo Musetti did not hide his physical exhaustion after his win over Luca Van Assche.
Lorenzo Musetti had to dig deep to get past Luca Van Assche in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Lyon.
After 3 hours and 32 minutes of battle, the Italian won in three sets and will face his compatriot Flavio Cobolli in the semifinals.
Musetti suffered physically
After the match, the Italian player did not hide how tough the duel was, which ended after one o'clock in the morning.
"It wasn't easy. Today was an excellent match, we both showed our love for this sport.
It ended late, physically it was a devastating match, but I'm very happy and proud of this match," Musetti said in the on-court interview to ATP media.
The Italian will need to recover quickly before facing Flavio Cobolli for a place in the final.
The two compatriots have met only once before, at the 2025 US Open, where Cobolli retired due to a physical issue in the third set.
