Alors qu'il avait disparu du Circuit ATP depuis près de 2 ans et une défaite au 2e tour à Atlanta le 29 juillet 2021, le Canadien fait son retour sur le gazon de 's-Hertogenbosch. Désormais âgé de 32 ans, l'ancien n°3 mondial a dominé Kecmanovic au 1er tour.
