Roddick on Berrettini: "He's a phenomenal player on a fast surface".
Matteo Berrettini was one of Italy's key players at the Davis Cup. The 28-year-old provided the decisive point with Jannik Sinner in the decisive doubles match against Argentina in the quarter-finals.
He then went on to dominate Thanasi Kokkinakis in the semi-finals and Botic van de Zandschulp in the final.
Praised by Jannik Sinner and the rest of his team, Berrettini has another strong supporter in Andy Roddick.
In his podcast, the former American tennis star shared his expectations of the 2021 Wimbledon finalist in the coming months.
"Matteo Berrettini couldn't play in the 2023 Davis Cup final. This year, he won three big fights without losing a single one.
In his career, he won two tournaments at Queen's, reached the final at Wimbledon and was stopped dead in his tracks by Covid, when he would have been one of the three or four favourites to win the title the following year.
I'm expecting great things from him next year, he's a phenomenal player on a fast surface", he said.
