Sabalenka savours the moment: Writing my family name into tennis history.

Aryna Sabalenka has won the US Open. Up against a Jessica Pegula in the form of her life, the Belarusian shook at times, but in the end had the nerves to win in just under 2 hours (7-5, 7-5).

Delighted, the world number 2 dedicated her success to her family: "After my father's death, my aim has always been to inscribe my family's name in the history of tennis.

Every time I see my name on this trophy, I'm proud of myself and proud of my family, who never gave up on my dream and did everything they could to keep me going.

I've been given this opportunity in life. It really means a lot. Yes, this has always been my dream.

I still can't believe I've managed to pull it off, as me and my team have already achieved so much.

Thank you!"
