Shnaider goes from strength to strength to win her 3rd WTA title in Budapest
Diana Shnaider won the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest on Sunday. In the final on Hungarian clay, the Russian dominated the Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 30 years old and down to 134th place in the world, in 1 hour and a half (6-4, 6-4).
Shnaider, ranked 28th in the world and the tournament's No.1 seed, was more solid in key moments. She converted 7 break points out of 9, compared with 5 out of 8 for Sasnovich, and managed to play better at the end of each of the two sets.
At just 20 years of age, this is her 3rd WTA title, just 6 months after winning her 1st on the hard courts of Hua Hin, and just three weeks after claiming her second on the grass courts of Bad Homburg.
Three titles in 6 months on 3 different surfaces, this is the kind of player who will be a force to be reckoned with in the major tournaments.
