Shnaider: "It's not appropriate to compare Swiatek to Valieva, they're two different sports".
The tennis world discovered this week that Iga Swiatek had tested positive for the banned drug trimetazidine.
The Pole has accepted a one-month suspension and will be able to return to the circuit at the start of next season at the Australian Open.
Numerous personalities in the sport have already reacted, and Diana Shnaider has also given her opinion on the subject.
The Russian, who had an excellent year in 2024 and is currently 13th in the WTA rankings, was asked about a possible comparison with skater Kamila Valieva.
The 17-year-old was suspended for four years for doping at the start of 2024 after testing positive for trimetazidine at the last Winter Olympics.
"They're two different sports, I don't think it's appropriate to compare them here. They're completely different things, so there's nothing to say," she was quoted as saying by Championat.
