Sinner: I won't take any risks

Jannik Sinner is gradually getting back to his best.

Although still physically weak, the Transalpine player has notched up two fine wins, first against Rublev (4-6, 7-5, 6-4), then against Zverev in Sunday's semi-final (7-6, 5-7, 7-6).

While the duel against Zverev offered us an absolutely sublime battle, it also revealed that Sinner was still suffering slightly from his hip.

A sublime winner, the world number 1 confided to the press about his current physical state: "I'm not going to take any risks, especially before the US Open.

Of course, I feel something, and I need to understand exactly what it is, because it's not the same as in the spring.

We'll have to see how it evolves after the tournament. But I'm not worried, and that's the most important thing.

I'm trying to be at my best before a Grand Slam.

But after the final here, I also know that I'll have another six days to recover, work and train.

I have no worries about being 100% at the US Open."
