Tennis continues to generate more and more money. From ever-increasing prize-money on the main circuit to exhibition tournaments that are more lucrative than ever, the little yellow ball creates considerable revenue.
And there's one figure that makes this point very forcefully. This year, the player who wins the Next Gen Masters will offer the winner a prize-money equivalent to that received by Pete Sampras when he won Wimbledon in 1997 ($526,480).
As a reminder, the Next Gen Finals is a tournament bringing together the 8 best young players of the previous year, offering no ATP points and serving as a laboratory for testing new rules.
