Laura Robson, tournament director at Queen’s, shared her thoughts on the favorites for Wimbledon. For her, it’s hard to predict because no one among the women truly excels on grass.
She stated: "I don’t know who the favorite is for the women’s tournament at Wimbledon. I’d probably say Sabalenka, because she’s performed well there before, but for Coco, this surface hasn’t delivered the same results as in the other Grand Slam tournaments.
Even though Gauff has reached the fourth round three times, I’d say there hasn’t been an exceptional result, so I think that leaves the door open for new faces to emerge.
I think about what could have happened last year if Madison Keys hadn’t been injured in the fourth round at Wimbledon, so there’s definitely a chance for many different players.
