US Open Qualifying Draw Released: Dimitrov, Nishikori and French Contingent Brace for Battle
US Open qualifying is set to begin. Dimitrov and Nishikori headline the field, while eleven French players aim to punch their ticket into the main draw.
The men's qualifying draw for the US Open has just been revealed.
While all eyes are on the mixed doubles and the stars already present at Flushing Meadows, 128 players will be at the start of the qualifying rounds that begin tomorrow.
Dimitrov and Nishikori expected
Among the headliners of the draw, notably Grigor Dimitrov, the No. 25 seed, who has drawn Italian Lorenzo Giustino in the first round.
Kei Nishikori, runner-up at the 2014 US Open and given a wildcard to participate in qualifying for his final appearance in New York, will face world No. 127 Sebastian Ofner.
Gea the No. 1 seed
As for the French players, Arthur Gea is the No. 1 seed in the draw. The 21-year-old will take on Sumit Nagal.
Moïse Kouame, making his first appearance in New York in his young career, will clash with Nishesh Basavareddy, whom he beat in the quarterfinals of the Lille Challenger earlier this season.
For the other French players involved, the matchups are as follows: Chidekh-Coria, Gaston-Justo, Added-Kym, Pavlovic-Varillas, Droguet-Rincon, Tabur-Shick, Blanchet-Virtanen, Müller-Djere.
