Alors qu'il ne partait pas favori sur sa moins bonne surface face à Ruusuvuori, le Suisse a fait mentir les pronostics en l'emportant en 3 sets sur le Court 18. Une victoire en 2h18 qui lui a en prime permis de conclure avant la nuit.
