At least he apologized to kids. When you accept the role of a professional athlete, there are going to be kids who become a huge fan of yours and some even turn you into a hero of sorts. That's just human nature. But I don't know about the part of saying "I made a mistake." He knew what he was doing when he partook of a banned substance. That's not making a mistake, that's willfully choosing to do what he knew was wrong. Maybe the mistake part was somehow believing he could do it and not get caught.
