Alcaraz : "I know how I have to play against Medvedev" In a rematch of last year final, Carlos Alcaraz will face Daniil Medvedev again for the title at Indian Wells this Sunday. The Spaniard won pretty easily one year ago (6-3, 6-2) and he is confident about the tactics to use to neutralize the Russian's game. That's what he told in press conference after his win over Jannik Sinner on Saturday. Alcaraz : "It's gonna be a really tough match, for sure. But against Daniil, I know how I have to play. I played him many times already. Like in the final here last year. I know pretty well the tactics to use against him. I'm not gonna tell it to you guys, sorry (smile). But I know very, very well how to play against Daniil."
Alcaraz : "Every time I play Sinner, I get nervous" After a few difficult months, Carlos Alcaraz confirmed that he is back to his very best by beating Jannik Sinner to reach the final at Indian Wells (1-6, 6-3, 6-2). In post-match press conference, the World No.2 told us that his matches against the Italian have really something special. Something speacial about the pressure, about the motivation, about the high level of tennis they produce and also about their relationship with the crowd. Alcaraz : "Every time that I'm gonna face Jannik, I'm gonna get nervous. Because I know that I have to play my 100% if I want to beat him. But it doesn't get me nervous the fact that I'm behind in our head-to-heads. It gives me extra motivation to give my 100%. Try to play my best every match against him, to try to catch him. And I did it. I think we are at 4-4 right now, if I'm not wrong. So, the next time that I'm gonna face him, I won't think about that (smile). Every time I play against Jannik, for both of us it's an amazing fight, but for the crowd also that's an amazing match. I think that the crowd enjoy every time that we are playing each other. And the energy that people bring to us is very special."
Sinner : "You are always impressed when you play against Carlos" Beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals at Indian Wells (1-6, 6-3, 6-2), Jannik Sinner try to told us, in press conference, how difficult it is to play against such an impressive player. Even if he could have done better this time. "Carlos showed already so many things. For sure you are always impressed when you play against him, but you are also prepared for certain shots. He is moving really, really fast as we know. Especially on this court, where the ball bounces very high, it's not easy to play against him because he can play we a lot of spin. What I have missed today is that I was too predictable at some points. I was doing the same things over and over again, which, in my mind, let me down. I was playing really, really good the first set, then after I... You know, when you see your opponent struggling a little bit... I was trying to stay solid instead of trying to move him around. So, I was too predictable at some points, I think that's the lesson for today. We will work on certain things, and hoppefully I will get better. But it was still a great match. We both played really good, there were some entertaining rallies. And he deserves today to win and I wish him good luck in the final."
