French Open controversy. Zverev wronged by a refereeing decision in the final?

French Open controversy. Zverev wronged by a refereeing decision in the final?

It's likely to cause quite a stir. The 5th set of the Roland-Garros 2024 final (6-2) was allegedly marked by a refereeing error at a crucial moment.

With Carlos Alcaraz leading 2-1 and a break ahead, he saved a break point at 15-40 after serving a second service ball that was apparently a fault, but which the chair umpire deemed to have hit the line.

This error was confirmed by video modelling (Hawk-Eye system) available to the media, but not accessible to the chair umpire. It should be noted, however, that a small margin of error exists with the Hawk-Eye, so it may not be possible to conclude with 100% certainty. To be confirmed.

If the error is confirmed, Alexander Zverev should have come back to 2 games all in this final set, which would then have been completely different.

Andy has withdrawn, Most sensible decision he's made this afternoon, to be honest. Sad to see the match end this way. 😢

Andy is clearly struggling with an injury atm, so why carry on & aggravate it even more, especially with Wimbledon coming up 🤔
