Match preview

The third round in Beijing pits Nikola Bartunkova, seeded 26th and ranked 34th in the world, against Aryna Sabalenka, seeded 2nd. Bartunkova arrives after a clear win over Magdalena Frech, while Sabalenka beat Renata Zarazúa in two sets. Over their last ten matches, they have recorded seven and eight wins respectively.

The ranking context clearly favors Sabalenka, but Bartunkova boasts a solid record of 19 wins and 12 losses on hard courts on the main tour this season. Their only previous meeting took place on grass in Berlin in June, with Sabalenka winning in three sets.

Sabalenka's power, illustrated by her 11 aces in the previous round, will have to contend with Bartunkova's consistency, as she dropped only four games to Magdalena Frech. The management of short rallies and break-point chances could weigh heavily.

Wow Elena and Sab gone, Good win for Nicola, she let Saba get away last time, this was good revenge, I love Saba but she needs to adapt her game to good returners u can't outhit someone who continues to send your serve back with interest, yes she can overpower her but you can't do that all match the tactics have to change and they didn't in this match. Nicola was more than happy to obsorb the pace and send it back, yes power off both wings is supreme but what I have learned about tennis is that you can win a match a 100 different ways 😉 😁👏👌🏾 and that was proven this match
