It's a bit absurd calling it a battle of the sexes when the #1 woman is playing a mostly retired for years male ranked #668 who also has to play to a smaller, slower court and only have one service... To even things out... So then wtf is the point?
Welcome to today's "equality".
Same reason you hear about BJK vs Riggs over and over but dont hear about Riggs win over Maragaret Court a few months earlier, 62,61 when he was 55 years old and she was the #1 woman player in the world. That tells you all you need to know about tennis "battle" of the sexes.
Also, there's always some reason why the woman's #1 simply cant play the mans #1 in a straight up equal match, and that reason is they would do well to get a single game and would embarrass their tour. People that know tennis know this. Fact- the top male college player would smoke whomever the #1 woman player was, as would the top 800 or 900 men in the world. The result would be much more NBA vs WNBA and much less Riggs vs King as you've been mislead to believe.
