Jannik Sinner's on-court interview following his win vs. Taylor Fritz in the final of the 2024 US Open.nnSpeakernNow it's time to hear from the champion, Jannik Sinner. Your first US Open, the first Italian man to claim this title in history. What does it mean to you, Jannik?nnJannik SinnernYeah, hello everyone, first of all, and I would like to start with Taylor. I know how much work he puts in. You're doing an amazing job. Congrats to you, Taylor, and the whole team. It's so nice to see you in big stages like this, and I'm quite sure that you're going to play many of those. So I wish you best of luck for the future.nnThis title for me means so much, because the last period of my career was really not easy. There is my team who supports me every day, the people who are close to me. I love tennis, I practice a lot for these kinds of stages, but I also realise that off the court there is a life.nnI would like to dedicate this title to my aunt, because she is really not feeling well health-wise. I don't know how much I still have her in my life. It's so nice that I can share positive moments still with her. She was a very important person for my life, and she still is. If there would be the biggest wish, I would wish everyone the best health, but unfortunately it's not possible.nnSpeakernYou came into this tournament saying, I'm not sure I have very high expectations. For someone with low expectations for how he might perform, how did you get this done over two weeks?nnJannik SinnernI did pretty well, I guess. We just went day by day, trying to practice well, even in the days off. Believing in ourselves, which is the most important. I understood, especially in this tournament, how important the mental part is in this sport, and I guess in every sport.nnI'm very happy, very proud to share this moment with my team. I know there are a lot of people watching from home, but I would like to thank everyone for being so fair in this amazing arena.nIt was a huge pleasure.nnSpeakernFinally, Dr. Heinlein said it, you are number one in the world, far and away. You've now won two major titles this year. To put in perspective how difficult that is, you are only the fourth man in more than 50 years to win your first two major titles in the same calendar year. You have had a hell of a year.nnHow would you phrase it? How would you describe the year?nnJannik SinnernIncredible.nSo many big wins for me this season. Starting off with Australia, and then playing so well there, which then gave me confidence for until now. But the work never stops.nI know that I still can improve, as we saw today, a couple of things, but you have to be proud with what you have. You have to go for it, you have to work for it. So I can't wait for my continued process.nnThank you. nnSpeakernCongratulations.nAnd now comes the real fun stuff. First, to present you with a check for $3,600,000, Claudia Jury from J.P. Morgan. Congratulations.nYou have made Italy proud, and I wore the orange dress for you.nnJannik SinnernThank you so much, I appreciate it. Thank you so much.nnSpeakernAnd now, to present the champion's trophy, Andre Agassi.

Ugo Humbert: “It's the greatest victory of my career and the best moment I've ever experienced on a tennis court. It was incredible, I train for this and that's what I kept telling myself throughout the third set. I wanted the story to end better than it did last year.nnI also thought about the match against Zverev, it gave me strength and I'm really proud of myself. Jérémy (Chardy, his coach) had said to me, above all, don't do what you did in Davis Cup, trying to overplay (Humbert lost against Alcaraz in September).nnBut everything was in the court. I was hitting winner after winner, and I was ultra-aggressive from the return. At the start of the second, I started to miss a bit, and he started to play a bit better. I think I'd used up so much energy that I had a little backlash and I fought until the middle of the third to get through it.nnAfter that, I talked to myself the whole third set, talking to myself. I needed to talk to myself to tell myself that I was with me, that I was there, that I wouldn't give up until the end. It worked, it felt good and I felt it was the right solution.nnIn any case, with my game on these surfaces, as on grass, I can really annoy the best in the world. After that, in the Davis Cup, he played an incredible match. I didn't have too many chances, he made me forced everywhere and I didn't see the light of day.nnThis was a different match, with the incredible support of the crowd. I'm also happy to give them (the fans) the victory because it was such an important moment for me. To share it with them was just fabulous.nnI love playing the best players in the world. That's why I train for. I love these conditions at Bercy, my favorite tournament. These are the matches I love to play.”

Carlos Alcaraz: “I think I could play better, that's obvious, but with the level that I had today, I think I competed, I gave everything, I fought until the last point. I have to congratulate Hugo, I think his performance has been really high. The way he hits the ball is unbelievable, it is amazing.nnEvery time that he plays against me, I feel like he increases his level, he plays a really high level of tennis, I think he impacts even more. So, congratulations to him and good luck.nnPlaying against a French player, one of the best French players that France has right now, they were great (the fans).nI had really great points, they were cheering on me a little bit, they stood up and clapped my points, so I appreciated it honestly. The crowd was really respectful, so it has been a really good match.”

Taylor Fritz on-court interview following his win against Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals of the 2024 US Open.nnTaylor Fritz says it's a dream come true. He's in the final of the US Open and promises to give it his all to lift the trophy.nnChristopher Eubanks:nWell, Taylor, that was an incredible effort, physically, mentally. Frances came out and played some really good tennis to get up two sets to love, and you stayed with it, you stayed true to your—two sets to one, sorry. You stayed with it, you stayed true.nWhat were the keys in order for you to be able to turn that match around?nnTaylor Fritz:nHe was—I mean, he was overwhelming from the baseline so much. He was taking the ball so early, changing lines so well. It was just, like, really overwhelming.nAnd I just tried to tell myself to stay in it and fight to just hold my serve and kind of just apply that scoreboard pressure as much as possible. I told myself that if I didn't give it absolutely everything I had to just stick with it and see if, you know, his level might drop a little bit, then I was going to regret it for a long time. So I just did everything I could to just stay in it.nnChristopher Eubanks :nYou know, you said that, you know, you told yourself to stay in it, but I looked over at your coaching box a little bit, and Michael Russell, who's usually one of the most calm, cool, and collected coaches, seemed to get really, really into it. Did hearing him kind of, you know, give you that energy, did that also play a part in kind of turning that momentum and getting your energy level up?nnTaylor Fritz:nI mean, I think a big thing was a lot of these points that were being played where I felt like I wasn't really doing anything wrong and I was just getting overwhelmed. I was freaking out a little bit, and, you know, he kind of just told me to keep doing what I was doing, and he kind of just accepted that's okay and keep making him do it, and I think that, you know, it helped me just calm me down and reaffirm I was doing the right thing.nnChristopher Eubanks :nWell, you did the right thing, and you also did something else that's incredibly special. Tonight you became the first American man in 18 years to advance to the final of the US Open. I know how hard you work, and I know how much you've put into this moment right here.nWhen you hear that, that you'll be playing in the final of the US Open come Sunday, what goes through your mind?nnTaylor Fritz:nI mean, it's the reason why I do what I do. It's the reason why I work so hard. It's, uh, I mean, I'm in the final of the US Open.nnChristopher Eubanks :nI'm sure it's a dream come true. You're going to have a couple days to kind of get ready for it, but I got to ask, in that final of the U.S. Open, you will face Yannick Center. I want to get your thoughts on that match and what you look forward to doing over the next 48 hours to prepare for the final on Sunday.nnTaylor Fritz:nLike I said, it's a dream come true. I'm in the final, so I'm going to come out, and I'm going to give everything I possibly have, and I know that's for a fact. I'm going to give it everything I can possibly give it, so I can't wait.nnChristopher Eubanks :nAnd I know this crowd in New York will be behind you 100%. Ladies and gentlemen, our number one American and US Open finalist, Taylor Fritz.
