A Flash Reign: Sinner Joins Federer, Borg, McEnroe, and Other Legends in a Surprising Club

Winner of the Rolex Paris Masters just under two weeks ago, Jannik Sinner had reclaimed the world No. 1 spot.

But his return to the summit was short-lived: the Italian lost the points from his title at last year's Masters the very next week.

He thus records one of the shortest stays at the top since Roger Federer in 2018, when the Swiss held the top spot for one week, from June 18th to 24th.

This was something that happened to him twice during that season, as Federer was also world No. 1 from May 14th to 20th, 2018.

Other great tennis figures have experienced reigns just as brief: Tomas Muster (February 12-18, 1996), Ivan Lendl (June 11-17, 1984 and August 19-25, 1985), John McEnroe (August 11-17, 1980, November 1-7, 1982, February 7-13, 1983 and June 6-12, 1983), Jimmy Connors (November 8-14, 1982 and January 31-February 6, 1983), and also Björn Borg (August 23-29, 1977).
