Djokovic starts his 1000th week in the top 100 of the ATP rankings

Novak Djokovic was unable to add a 25th Grand Slam title to his immense career during the Australian Open.

Despite a faultless run to the semi-finals, the Serb was caught out by his physical limitations and was forced to retire against Alexander Zverev in the last four, having just conceded the first set.

With a leg injury sustained in his quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz, the former world No. 1 will have to wait to win another major title.

Nevertheless, Djokovic can console himself with a new statistic demonstrating his consistency and, above all, his longevity at the highest level.

This week, Novak Djokovic finds himself in the top 100 of the ATP rankings for the 1000th week of his career.

Since 1990 and the start of data collection, the Serb is the third player to reach this total, behind his two greatest rivals Roger Federer (1167 weeks) and Rafael Nadal (1029).

The top 10 also includes Richard Gasquet in 4th place.

The Frenchman, who will retire this season after Roland-Garros, has been in the top 100 for 985 weeks.

He is ahead of Feliciano Lopez (971) and two of his compatriots, Gaël Monfils (957) and Fabrice Santoro (943).

Stan Wawrinka, still active, also appears in this ranking (909 weeks). Fernando Verdasco (880) and Mikhail Youzhny (879) close the gap.
