"I have no regrets and I take responsibility for all the mistakes I have made," states Halep

I have no regrets and I take responsibility for all the mistakes I have made, states Halep

The former world number one Simona Halep does not regret ending her career and is now enjoying a bit of rest.

Halep is enjoying her retirement. After playing her last match against Lucia Bronzetti in Cluj-Napoca in early February, the Romanian left professional tennis after many months of battling recurring injuries and following a doping suspension.

But the 34-year-old former player assures publicly that she does not miss the top level, and she wishes to retain only the positive aspects that tennis has brought her throughout her life.

"Tennis has done me no harm. It has only brought me good. Tennis has nothing to do with what happened (with her doping case) and I still have the same passion for this sport. I miss it a little and I got goosebumps when I entered the center court against Bronzetti, remembering everything I had done. But it's also good without the stress of the matches.

I have no regrets and I take responsibility for and accept all the mistakes I have made. And I am proud of all the good things I have done. I can say I am proud of many things, but the most important is the way I handled all the failures and the successes.

Because when you grow up in a small country, you don't always know how to handle success. And I feel I handled it very well and didn't change much. That's what I'm most proud of. Because now, I realize that I devoted my entire life to this.

I have a few emotional gaps compared to a normal life, but I don't regret anything. Those things were very important for me to be able to devote myself entirely to this sport," Halep assured The National.
