Before the Australian Open, Zheng withdraws from his first tournament in 2025

Before the Australian Open, Zheng withdraws from his first tournament in 2025

In a few weeks' time, Qinwen Zheng will return to Melbourne, where she played in the first Grand Slam final of her career.

Before defending the points gained from that final, she had decided to play in the United Cup, which starts on December 30.

However, she announced on her Instagram account her withdrawal from the competition, in order to arrive at 100% in Melbourne: "Unfortunately, I won't be playing the United Cup next week.

After the long 2024 I've had, I need a few more weeks of rest, recovery and good training for the new season.

I look forward to returning to Australia soon and I'll see you all in Melbourne in a few weeks!"
