"I hope the story changes starting tomorrow," Musetti launches the final against Djokovic in Athens
Lorenzo Musetti will face Novak Djokovic in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Athens. The Italian will play for his first title since 2022 and for a first-time qualification for the ATP Finals.
Musetti will play one of the most important matches since the start of his career this Saturday in Athens. Thanks to his victory against Sebastian Korda (6-0, 5-7, 7-5 in 2h20) after saving a match point, the world number 9 is just one step away from winning the tournament and thus qualifying for the ATP Finals for the very first time in his career.
Against Novak Djokovic, the 23-year-old player will also attempt to win his third career title, the first since the Naples tournament in October 2022 against Matteo Berrettini.
"I haven't been very lucky with finals lately. It's been three years since I lost in a final. I hope the story changes starting tomorrow. I will play hoping to achieve two goals. The first is to win the title here.
The second, I think you know what it is. I'm really looking forward to playing this match against a legend. It will be a beautiful moment for the audience," Musetti assured for The Tennis Letter after his qualification.
