Mahut: "Doubles aren't put forward enough".

Le 10/02/2025 à 15h41 par Clément Gehl
Mahut: Doubles aren't put forward enough.

Nicolas Mahut has had a prolific doubles career, winning five Grand Slams, coupled with a more than respectable singles career, reaching 37th in the world at best.

Doubles is a discipline close to his heart, and the Frenchman is unfortunately rather pessimistic about it.

Speaking to Eurosport, he explains: "As singles players gradually began to concentrate on a more individual career, playing the doubles circuit less, mainly because of the exploding prize-money in singles, it lost a little of its interest.

On the ATP circuit, doubles isn't promoted enough, even though people love the discipline.

We can see, for example, the importance of doubles in the Davis Cup.

So I'm rather pessimistic about the future of doubles on the circuit, because the decisions that are being made are not in favor of its development."
