Mahut's clear opinion on Kyrgios' comments: "I don't like these statements".
A few days ago, Nick Kyrgios declared on the Nothing Major podcast that he would lose "all respect" if he were to face Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open.
These comments obviously caused quite a stir, with Eurosport consultant Nicolas Mahut reacting: "I don't like these statements. He's entitled to his opinion on Sinner's positive test, everyone's free to think what they like.
But to escalate the situation like that...
Sinner has never disrespected anyone, he's world n°1. So it's not necessary."
The Frenchman also believes that Kyrgios, who has been absent from the courts for almost two years, would not be in a position to compete with Sinner: "If he were to face Kyrgios, I think it would be more the pre-match climate that would be difficult to manage than the match itself for Sinner.
Kyrgios hasn't played for too long. We can dream of a title for Kyrgios at the Australian Open, but we have to be realistic in terms of level.
Even if the public is excited, if it's 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, well..."
