Serena Williams on Alcaraz: "I always call him when he plays to encourage him"
In an interview with ABC de Sevilla, Serena Williams spoke about Carlos Alcaraz, revealing that she knows him well.
"Of course, I know him well; the Spaniards have been at the top for a long time. There's Rafa, of course, but there are many other great tennis players.
Alcaraz is doing incredible things. I'm a big fan of Alcaraz. I always call him when he plays to encourage him."
When asked about the possibility of Alcaraz beating Novak Djokovic's record of 24 Grand Slams, Serena had her own thoughts on the matter.
"At this point, anything is possible. In his early days, no one thought Federer could surpass Sampras, and he did. Then Rafa did the same, then Djokovic.
Carlos is very young, he has great rivals, but of course it's possible. Records are made to be broken."
I've never understood that. I've never heard anyone being told they broke the previous record say, well, I set the record so it can broken.
