Sinner cautious after his win against Bergs in Paris: It's a tough tournament, the conditions are unique here

Jannik Sinner had no trouble defeating Zizou Bergs at the Paris Masters 1000.

Following Carlos Alcaraz's early exit, Jannik Sinner naturally becomes the main favorite for the title at the Rolex Paris Masters. The world number 2, who will reclaim the world number one spot from his Spanish rival if he wins the title on Sunday, secured his 22nd consecutive indoor victory against Zizou Bergs (6-4, 6-2).

The Italian will now face Francisco Cerundolo this Thursday for a spot in the quarter-finals. After playing his first match in the new La Défense Arena, Sinner reacted to his win against the Belgian.

"I felt pretty good. I started well in both sets, which gives you a bit more freedom. The playing conditions are completely different from Vienna. For me, the most difficult thing is the movement. There are new balls, which move slower. We'll see how it goes from here.

Against Bergs, there wasn't much rhythm. It's a tough tournament, we saw that with Carlos's (Alcaraz) elimination. It's the end of the season. The conditions are unique here. I've never played well here. Every match is tough. I'm focusing on what I have to do," he stated for L'Équipe.
