"This season has been difficult due to injuries," Zverev reflects on his 2025 year

This season has been difficult due to injuries, Zverev reflects on his 2025 year

Following his defeat at the Six Kings Slam, Alexander Zverev reviewed his season.

Zverev was beaten in the quarterfinals of the Six Kings Slam. The world number 3 fell to his nemesis, Taylor Fritz, and will now be able to prepare for the Paris Masters 1000, where he is the defending champion, as well as the ATP Finals. In any case, that will be the case if the German recovers from his shoulder injury, as he himself stated in a press conference after his defeat.

"I love being a tennis player, and even though we travel for eleven months out of twelve, I know I am privileged and I don't feel in a position to complain. This season has been tough for me because of injuries.

At the start of the year, I was world number 2 and close to reaching the top spot. I know that's my level when I'm at my best, but I haven't been able to be since the beginning of the year.

Once I'm free from any physical discomfort, I'll need to work to get back to my best tennis and my confidence. The key for me will be to regain form to approach the 2026 season in the best possible way.

In recent days, I felt better after sustaining a right shoulder injury, but during the warm-up for my match (against Fritz), the pain came back.

It's bad luck. Tennis is a brutal sport where it's hard to manage these kinds of issues. I need to consult with my team to see the best way to recover," assured Zverev, who also discussed the form of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

"At the moment, the two of them are light years ahead of everyone else. I'm still world number 3, but I feel like Jannik (Sinner) and Carlos (Alcaraz) are far above.

We can't just sit back and acknowledge that they're better than us; we also need to raise our level. Personally, I think there are four players who can challenge them: Djokovic, Fritz, Draper, and me.

In any case, I can't consider anything until I'm fully recovered," the German assured in recent hours to the media Punto de Break.
