Tommy Paul made his debut in the top 10. Now ranked 9th in the world, the American player is coming off a successful 2024 season with three titles (Dallas, Queen's, Stockholm), and has made a perfect start to 2025 with a quarter-final finish at the Australian Open.
For the ATP website, the 27-year-old is satisfied with such an achievement, but has no intention of stopping there.
"Entering the top 10 is not my ultimate goal. Of course, I still have new missions to accomplish, and I'm focused on that from now on.
I always feel a bit uncomfortable when people congratulate me when, in the end, I haven't done anything. I'm proud of the work I do every day.
I'm also proud of my team, because without them, I certainly wouldn't be where I am today. For me, it's just a question of details.
It's about being attentive to the same things. I often look forward to training, but sometimes it seems that what I'm working on is redundant.
Sometimes I don't feel like doing all that physical work, but I have no choice. In the end, it's incredible. It's a good thing I'm not sitting at a desk making a living.
I enjoy what I do and I love earning money playing tennis. It's like a dream," he assured the ATP website.
