Munar-Ruud and Shapovalov-Paul on the Dallas semi-final schedule

The ATP 500 tournament in Dallas continued on Friday night with the quarter-finals of this 2025 edition.

First quarter-final: Jaume Munar versus Matteo Arnaldi. The Spaniard was the surprise winner over Ben Shelton in the previous round, and his confidence is growing.

Despite 5 double faults, the 64th-ranked Spaniard won in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).

In his second semi-final of the season after Hong Kong, Munar will face Casper Ruud. The Norwegian, seeded number 2, has held his own in this tournament so far.

The three-time Grand Slam finalist took advantage of Yoshihito Nishioka's withdrawal (7-5, 3-2 ab) to reach the last four.

Munar and Ruud had faced each other in the first round of the Australian Open a few weeks ago, and it was the 5th-ranked player in the ATP rankings who won in five sets.

Another player who has qualified for the semi-finals in Dallas is Denis Shapovalov. In fine form after eliminating Miomir Kecmanovic and then Taylor Fritz, seeded number 1, in the last 16, the Canadian won again, this time over Tomas Machac (7-6, 6-0).

For a place in the final, Shapovalov will have to face Tommy Paul. The last American still in the running in Dallas, the world No. 9 eliminated his third consecutive compatriot.

After Jenson Brooksby and Ethan Quinn, the Melbourne quarter-finalist this time put an end to Reilly Opelka (7-6, 6-2).

Last year's winner in the same tournament, Paul can still look forward to a double that hasn't been achieved in Dallas since Ryan Sweeting in 2009 and 2010. Back then, the tournament was still part of the Challengers category.

More Than a Match: Pay Inequalities Between Women and Men in Tennis

From the Williams sisters to Alizé Cornet, from sponsors to the ATP and WTA tours, the debate over pay equality in tennis has never been more intense. Between undeniable progress and persistent inequalities, the king of racket sports finds itself facing its own contradictions.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
