Vacherot Aims to Shine in Basel: "I Want to Repeat What I Did in Shanghai"

Valentin Vacherot hasn't had time to catch his breath after his triumph in Shanghai. Present in Basel, the Monegasque player shares his desire to "repeat the same thing tennis-wise and physically."
Valentin Vacherot's season took an unexpected turn in Shanghai. Ranked 204th when starting the tournament in China, the player representing Monaco fought through the qualifiers before sweeping aside all opponents to claim his very first title on the main tour.
A unique epic that has marked this 2025 season. Returning to competition in Basel this week thanks to a wild-card, the world number 39 has drawn Taylor Fritz in the first round. He had the opportunity to speak to the media before his debut on Wednesday.
"My goal? To repeat what I did tennis-wise and physically in Shanghai. I'm very happy with how I feel, even a week later. The come-down wasn't too hard physically, but obviously, there's a lot more attention on me.
Just being seated here, I wouldn't have been if I hadn't won the tournament in Shanghai. But I'm very happy to be here and to get back to a tournament very quickly.
Last week was crazy, I didn't have much time for myself, to breathe. But that's okay. I took it all with immense pleasure. I shared that moment with everyone in Monaco.
I'm very happy to come here to also get back into my little bubble, to see how we feel, how we are during a tournament, and to be able to work quietly and prepare for the next tournament."
