Swiatek ahead of her United Cup clash with Rybakina: "It's going to be a challenge".
Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina will face off in Sydney on Saturday in the United Cup semi-final between Poland and Kazakhstan.
A meeting that looks like a Grand Slam final before its time.
Trailing 4-2 in her head-to-heads with the Kazakh, Swiatek spoke at a press conference about her feelings ahead of this match, which is one of the first clashes on the WTA circuit at the start of 2025: "Honestly, I'm happy, because it's a great challenge, especially before a Grand Slam.
Elena loves playing in Australia, so obviously it will be a challenge.
I think those two matches I played (wins over Muchova and Boulter) will help me, because I know what I have to do after playing them. And I've come through some tough times.
But, to be honest, I didn't even know who I was going to play, so I can't really say much more than that.
We'll get ready for this game probably late tomorrow."
