Draw for the WTA 250 in ’s-Hertogenbosch: Samsonova Aims for a Double, a Clash Between the Kudermetova Sisters, Sakkari and Andreescu as Wildcards
The ’s-Hertogenbosch tournament kicks off on Monday for both the women’s and men’s events. The draws for both competitions were made on Saturday.
For the 2025 WTA edition, defending champion Liudmila Samsonova will be in attendance. The Russian, ranked 18th in the world, will begin her campaign against a qualifier, with the potential to face another qualifier in the next round.
Several Russian players feature in the main draw, including Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No. 2 seed and winner of the event in 2022 and 2023. Her quest for a third title on Dutch grass will also start against a qualifier.
Maria Sakkari, at risk of dropping out of the top 100 (ranked 90th this week), received a wildcard, as did Bianca Andreescu. They will face Anouk Koevermans and a qualifier, respectively. Danielle Collins, who is unseeded, will take on Greet Minnen in the first round.
Finally, for the second time this season, a showdown between the Kudermetova sisters, Veronika and Polina, is on the cards. The higher-ranked of the two, Veronika, won their previous encounter in Madrid 6-2, 6-2.
