He needs a break in his season: Jim Courier warns about Alcaraz's schedule after his Paris fiasco

With 54 unforced errors and a closed-off expression, Carlos Alcaraz did not seem to be in his element in Paris. Jim Courier, on Tennis Channel, warns: "He's playing too much, his schedule needs to be lightened."

Carlos Alcaraz completely missed the mark at the Rolex Paris Masters, eliminated in his first match by Cameron Norrie. His 54 unforced errors, as well as his visible frustration, demonstrated that the Spaniard had simply hit a wall in a more than exceptional season.

Jim Courier, for Tennis Channel, explained that the world No. 1 had undoubtedly played too many tournaments this year. He thus went into detail about his schedule:

"The goal is simple: he should have a three-week break in his schedule to recover from the jet lag, recharge, and rest. After the Australian Open, he should skip Rotterdam. He resumes in Doha and then focuses on the Sunshine Double with Indian Wells and Miami.

But after that, no Monte-Carlo. Barcelona, it's difficult for him to refuse because it's in Spain. But if he really wants these three weeks to recharge and be fresh before Madrid and through to Wimbledon, he must take this break. He should not participate in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona.

After the US Open, the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup should be crossed off the schedule, unless he feels in top form. Then, off to Asia with Tokyo or Beijing, then Shanghai.

You want to play the Six Kings Slam next? No problem, it's an exhibition that doesn't cost you a lot of energy. For the end, you play Paris, the Masters, and the Davis Cup. That allows you to have a five-week break before the new season.
