Humbert defeats Khachanov in his first Masters 1000 final!
Ugo Humbert's daydream in Paris continues, defeating Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals in three sets (6-7, 6-4, 6-3) after almost three hours of play.
The Frenchman had let the first set slip away when leading 5-2 at tie-break, but his self-sacrifice and the atmosphere of the Paris-Bercy cauldron enabled him to break in the middle of the second set and go on to win the third.
At 3-3 in the deciding set, and on his first break opportunity, he took his opponent's serve with a cross-court backhand attack.
With his fist raised on every last point he won, Ugo Humbert finally achieved the feat of reaching the final and continuing his incredible week.
After 2 hours 46 minutes of play and many emotions left on center court, the French No.1 will have to recover as best he can to compete in tomorrow's final against Alexander Zverev.
