France knocked out of the United Cup by Italy

France needed a 3-0 victory over Italy to qualify for the United Cup.

Unfortunately, the opposite happened, as Italy won 3-0, leaving only one set for the French.

Jasmine Paolini quietly beat Chloé Paquet 6-0, 6-2. Despite winning the first set, Ugo Humbert lost to Flavio Cobolli 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.

In the mixed doubles match, Errani/Vavassori beat Roger-Vasselin/Lechemia 6-3, 7-6.

With only one match won out of six (Humbert's against Dominic Stricker), France is out of the United Cup by the narrowest of margins.
