"A Fantastic Opportunity": The ATP CEO Unveils His Ambitious Vision for the Masters 1000 in Saudi Arabia
Appointed as the CEO of the ATP just over two months ago, Eno Polo, a former professional player, gave an interview to the media Sports Scene.
He was asked, among other things, about the arrival of the new Masters 1000 in Saudi Arabia, which will be held in 2028. According to him, the tournament will have several benefits for tennis:
"It's a fantastic opportunity. It allows tennis to be played in another region of the world. I think that's important. Tennis already has some 250 and 500 events in the Middle East, but having a Masters 1000 there is something tremendous for the sport.
I believe it will attract much more attention to tennis in the Arab world, which is a very good thing, because the population there is huge, as is also the case in China.
There are many children growing up, starting to pick up rackets, and who knows, some may become champions in 20, 30, or 40 years. Look at other sports like football: today, there are great players from all over the world, so tennis must follow this path of development.
I think the Masters 1000 in Saudi Arabia will bring investments in infrastructure. I believe they will push the level of innovation: we can very well imagine a stadium filled with technology in 2028. They will push the other Masters to do the same."
