A French player suspended for six weeks for violating the anti-corruption program

French tennis is shaken by the suspension of Lucas Bouquet, who admitted to violating the anti-corruption program.

This Wednesday, October 1st, a French professional player was sanctioned by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). Lucas Bouquet, 28 years old and ranked 705th in the world, indeed admitted to not having complied with the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) and is therefore currently suspended for a period of six weeks.

He was also fined and will be able to resume competition starting October 31st. In its statement visible on its website, the ITIA elaborated on the reasons for such a decision.

"The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) confirms today that French tennis player Lucas Bouquet has been suspended for six weeks and fined $10,000 (with $5,000 suspended) after he admitted to failing to report facts or suspicions of active corruption, providing privileged information, and failing to report a corruption attempt, in violation of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).

Bouquet, who reached his career-high singles ranking in February 2025 (478th), admitted to committing four TACP offenses in 2023 and 2024, and requested that the case be referred to an independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO) to determine the sanction.

On September 19, 2025, AHO Amani Khalifa imposed a sanction of two months, with a reduction for early admission of guilt, and a fine of $10,000, with $5,000 suspended. The sanction is effective from September 19, 2025, the date of the written decision, and will end on October 30, 2025.

During the period of ineligibility, Bouquet, aged 28, is not permitted to play, train, or attend tennis events authorized by ITIA members (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, French Tennis Federation, Wimbledon, and USTA) or any national association.

The ITIA is an independent body established by its members to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of their professional tennis events," can be read on the ITIA website.
