Alcaraz Admits 'Having Doubts' After Split with Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero
The end of his collaboration with Juan Carlos Ferrero surprised the tennis world. Yet, for Carlos Alcaraz, the decision had become inevitable.
"Life is about following paths, and after a season that runs from January to November, you have to make decisions. We saw that a change was needed," he told our colleagues at El Mundo.
Criticism That Affected Him
Next, the Spaniard reflected on his words after his triumph in Melbourne ("I remember those who didn't believe in me").
"Time has helped me understand the power of words and how they can influence a person's mood."
Indeed, the native of El Palmar acknowledges that some criticism, particularly after the announcement of the split with Ferrero, made him doubt.
But in the face of that, the 22-year-old player refocused on his core support.
"My inner circle is the one that truly knows me. And if they need to give me a slap on the wrist to bring me back down to earth, they will."
Samuel López as New Guide
Finally, Alcaraz spoke about the relationship he has with Samuel López, his main coach since Ferrero's departure.
"He helps me a lot professionally, improving my shots and highlighting tactical aspects. But he also knows how to calm me down when something worries me."
