Alcaraz beats Shelton in an exhibition at Madison Square Garden, New York
In front of a packed stadium, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Ben Shelton in an exhibition match at Madison Square Garden, New York. The match ended 4-6, 6-2, 7-4 for the Spaniard.
The Spaniard spoke of his ambitions for the coming season: "The only thing I'm missing is the Australian Open. I hope to get there in 2025. It's an important goal for me this year.
But it's always difficult to win a Grand Slam, a lot of players work hard to do it too, I have to set myself big goals and I hope to achieve them in 2025."
Ben Shelton, meanwhile, was asked about American tennis, which is making strong progress: "American tennis is getting better every day.
This year, we had Taylor Fritz in the US Open final. Frances Tiafoe was in the semi-finals. I was in the semi-finals last year. We're up against Italians and Spaniards."
