Beaten by Michelsen, Gasquet bids farewell to Metz
Already back on center court in Metz after his 1st round victory yesterday, Richard Gasquet was unable to follow up his performance against Alex Michelsen, defeated in a very tight match (6-7, 7-6, 7-6).
The Biterrois was close to another hard-fought victory in the Metz Arena. In a first set in which both players held on to their face-offs, it was in the tie-break that the Frenchman made the difference.
The scenario was repeated in the second set, but this time it was the American who came out on top in the tiebreak.
In the final set, the two players played out another tie-break, but this time it was much closer. Gasquet first took the lead, 4-0, and then had two match points at 6-4.
But it was Michelsen who finally managed to turn the tables and win the match on his third opportunity to close out the match.
Richard Gasquet thus bids farewell to the Metz tournament, where he played in his very first ATP final in 2004.
