"An Important Person for All of Us": Cobolli's Tribute to Pietrangeli
On December 1st, Nicola Pietrangeli, a legend of Italian tennis, passed away at the age of 92. Former world number 3, he had won Roland-Garros twice, in 1959 and 1960, before the Open era.
Many tributes had been paid to him after the announcement of his death, but Pietrangeli was honored again in recent hours in Rome, the city where he grew up.
Cobolli Pays Tribute to Pietrangeli
In recent hours, court number 4 at TC Parioli in the Italian capital was renamed in his honor. A small ceremony with the presence of his two sons Marco and Filippo as well as Flavio Cobolli was organized for the occasion.
"I wanted to be present to say my final goodbyes to Nicola (Pietrangeli). He was an important person for all of us," Cobolli stated according to remarks collected by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
