Arnaldi on the progress of Italian tennis: "The Federation has done an excellent job".
In the team competitions, Italy had the upper hand over the other nations in 2024.
The Squadra Azzurra has achieved the Davis Cup-Billie Jean King Cup double, and has established itself as one of tennis' leading nations in recent months.
Matteo Arnaldi is no exception. The 23-year-old, ranked 37th in the world, reached the semi-finals of the Montreal Masters 1000 last August, before losing to Rublev.
According to Arnaldi, the success of Italian tennis is due, among other things, to the strengthening of group cohesion. Indeed, the players rub shoulders a lot off the court.
He also mentions the Italian Tennis Federation, chaired by Angelo Binaghi.
"With the rest of the players, we've all known each other since we were about 11 or 12. In fact, a friendship has developed.
When you're at tournaments, it's not just about the tournament itself: you can go to dinner with them, spend time with guys you've known for years.
It's a bit like a home away from home. When you see your friends growing up, winning tournaments, it motivates you to think that you can do it too.
You enter the court with a different approach. As far as our results are concerned, there's no doubt that the Federation has done an excellent job, as have our coaches and the clubs we grew up in," he assures us.
