ATP Awards - Sinner coaches not nominated for Best Coach, a scandal?

It's now official. As of yesterday, the list of nominees for the various annual awards at the ATP Awards ceremony is known. The award for best coach of the season will be decided between Xavier Malisse (Alexei Popyrin), Emmanuel Planque (Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard), Michael Russel (Taylor Fritz), Brad Stine (Tommy Paul) and James Trotman (Jack Draper).

A list that may come as a surprise, given that neither Zverev Sr (Zverev's coach), Carlos Moya (Alcaraz) nor Cahill and Vagnozzi (Sinner's coaches) are on the list. Given the results of these three men, and above all the world's No. 1, the choice is a surprising one.

What is certain is that not everyone is happy with this list, and particularly not Jose Moron, editor-in-chief of Punto de Break, who declared: "In 2023, Djokovic won 3 of the 4 Grand Slam tournaments and was number 1. The Coach of the Year award was won not by Ivanisevic, but by Sinner's coaches.

In the year 2024, when Sinner was superior to everyone else, neither Cahill nor Vagnozzi (coaches of the world number 1) will be among the nominees for ATP Coach of the Year. Neither will Ferrero or Zverev Sr. Explain this to me. It makes no sense or sense at all."
