ATP Brisbane: Dimitrov, double tournament winner, will compete in the 2026 edition
Having fallen to 44th place, Grigor Dimitrov will want to start the year 2026 in the best possible way. Absent for several months after suffering a partial tear of the pectoralis major muscle during his round of 16 match at Wimbledon against Jannik Sinner, the Bulgarian returned to the circuit in Paris at the end of October. Aged 34, the former world No. 3 will begin his 2026 season in Brisbane.
10th participation in the Brisbane tournament for Dimitrov
Dimitrov is familiar with this tournament as he has won it twice, in 2017 and 2024. This will mark the Bulgarian's 10th participation in the Australian city, having also lost the final of the 2013 edition to Andy Murray.
It should be noted that Alexei Popyrin has also been confirmed by the tournament organizers. The world No. 54 will compete in Brisbane and then Adelaide the following week. Daniil Medvedev will also be taking part.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to Brisbane. The fans are fantastic and I love playing at the Pat Rafter Arena. I only have very fond memories there and I can't wait to start my season in Brisbane in January," Dimitrov stated on the tournament's official website.
