ATP points at the Laver Cup?
A change of tone from the organizers of the Laver Cup. Considered a simple exhibition when it was founded by Roger Federer in 2017, the event has gradually established itself on the calendar.
When asked about the future of the competition, Tony Godsick made no secret of the fact and hopes to see the event rewarded with ATP points: "For the moment, we've managed to consolidate ourselves in the calendar.
I often joke with Andrea Gaudenzi, the president of the ATP, that they should have had the idea of inventing a competition like the Laver Cup, which is a fantastic tool for promoting tennis.
As for the idea of distributing ATP points, it wasn't important to us at first, but now the United Cup has them, and I'm not saying we won't have them.
I hope it's something that will be addressed in the future."
