Clément Gehl

From an Informed Enthusiast to a Specialist Writer

Clément Gehl is a Tennis Writer for TennisTemple (TT) since November 2024. It is a nice story: he began as a passionate TT reader (2015) and gradually established himself as a credible and committed voice in the tennis world. He has played himself since 2017 (once a week) and competes (50 official matches), for pleasure above all and without excessive pressure, with a French ranking of 30/3.

Background & Ties to Tennis

This personal connection to tennis enriches his journalistic vision and allows him to better understand the performances of professional players. A connection reinforced by a regular presence courtside at the biggest tournaments (Roland-Garros, Paris Masters 1000, ATP 250 in Metz). He particularly appreciates the more intimate atmosphere of Roland-Garros qualifying, which he attends every year, and this has allowed him to build ties with pro players. For example, he conducted an exclusive interview with Australian John Millman (former world No. 33) in January 2025.

An Informed and Atypical View of the Tennis Ecosystem

Clément holds a Master 2 in international commerce and strategy (2022) and a Licence in applied foreign languages (English, German) obtained in 2020. These two degrees give him not only excellent writing quality but also an informed and atypical view of every aspect of the business of professional tennis. Skills that, combined with his tennis expertise, allow him to have a more objective analysis of current events and to convey it perfectly to his readers.

Experience & Expertise

Clément has followed the ATP and WTA circuits closely for more than 10 years (since 2012), as well as the major events on the calendar: the Grand Slams, the Masters and WTA 1000, the ATP and WTA Finals, the Davis Cup or the Billie Jean King Cup. However, he is not only interested in Top 100 stars, but also in female and male players beyond the Top 500. He is convinced that this is where inspiring stories, intimate struggles and forgotten human journeys can be found, and that they deserve to be highlighted.

Some of the best 5 setter matches at this US Open.

Spectacular play by all the remaining players. Men's tennis is the best sport one on one. These guys are amazing. Every generation develops better players. Federer is still the GOAT in my books, as a complete package tennis pro, gentleman, and competitor.

Venus loses 15th singles match in a row!

It will be interesting to see how much longer the WTA continues to give Venus (and Serena) wild cards over young, up and coming players despite being ranked 618, not winning a singles match in 15 tries, and being 46 years old. If the WTA is simply "doing it for the fans", that's what an exhibition is for, not top tier tournaments.

The WTA's current approach shines an even greater spotlight on the...

Kyrgios pulls out of US Open...🤣

Evidently he's leaving to dedicate himself to the public, virtuous fight against drugs in the sport, the way he did against Sinner and Halep.
