Roddick on Swiatek: "I can't call it doping".
Andy Roddick has defended Iga Swiatek on the doping affair involving her. The American believes that this is an unfortunate situation, not a mistake on the part of the Pole.
He believes she shouldn't be blamed: "I can't call it doping. It's like taking melatonin for jet lag at 2.30am in Cincinnati.
You have to think of how many unfavorable factors there must have been for Swiatek to be injected with melatonin and for the product to be contaminated.
It's unfortunate for her. She tested negative at the Paris Olympics and in New York, so it wasn't a recurring problem. It just sucks that people make snap judgments about other people.
I took melatonin myself. How can we assume that ours weren't contaminated? Are we going to continue debating the details of a substance that had no doping effect?
