Beaten by Draper, Berrettini takes the blame: "It's going to hurt for a while".
An unfortunate finalist in Stuttgart, Matteo Berrettini found it hard to be positive in his press conference. Indeed, after a thunderous start to the match, the Italian dropped back slightly, allowing his opponent to come back and win (3-6, 7-6, 6-4).
Despite a highly successful return to the circuit, with an ATP final in his very first tournament, the Transalpine giant seems to be struggling to come to terms with defeat.
Reflecting on this disappointment, he made no secret of his disappointment: "Congratulations Jack. You had an incredible week and match. I was so close. It's going to hurt for a while, but that's tennis. You have to accept it and try to move on.
I've won matches like that and lost matches like that. I'm sure this guy will lift more trophies. An incredible week. Good luck for the next tournaments."
