Bencic on Hingis' Influence: "She Was Always Trying to Help Me"

Bencic reflected on the impact champion Hingis had on her career. The former world No. 1 has been guiding her compatriot since she was very young. On the show *Love All With Kim Clijsters*, Bencic emotionally spoke about the five-time Grand Slam winner’s character:
"Hingis was so kind. She would always hit with the kids, even during her main training sessions. Often, she’d stay at the net for hours, never missing a volley and playing with 8-year-olds, 10-year-olds, and 12-year-olds—just like with everyone else.
It’s incredible. I mean, clearly, it meant a lot to her. You know, trying to hit the ball as well as we could so we wouldn’t miss and the rallies would keep going.
When she came back to play doubles, she was always on tour trying to help me. She’s known me since I was very, very little, so naturally, she’d come watch my matches.
I think even when I played in Toronto, she was there for every match. So for the US Open, I think she was obviously really happy for me."
