Berrettini raises his game and impresses on the Stuttgart turf!
Matteo Berrettini looks set to return to his best on Stuttgart grass. The more rounds go by, the more impressive the former world no. 6 and Wimbledon 2021 finalist (beaten by Djokovic 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3) becomes. On Saturday, he qualified for the final by giving his compatriot Lorenzo Musetti a lesson in grass-court tennis (6-4, 6-0).
After breaking in the 3rd game, he saved three consecutive break points to close out the set in the 10th game (5-4, 0-40). Berrettini then unrolled his tennis. He won the second set in just 25 minutes, not conceding a single game and even denying Musetti a single game point. An impressive performance.
In Sunday's final, he'll have to be very wary, however, as he'll be up against Britain's Jack Draper, who seems to be on a roll this week.
